I practice exclusively in the area of criminal defence in Toronto, Ontario. I am originally from St. John's, Newfoundland, where I graduated from Memorial University with a degree in political science and a minor in philosophy. Throughout my education, my principal interest was the relationship between the individual and the state. This interest naturally attracted me to law school and I graduated from McGill Law School in Montreal in 1999.

Being charged with a criminal offence is one of the most intimidating things a person can be forced to face. Many people are unaware of the array of possible defences open to them, or what they can do to ensure the best result. My personal and professional commitment is to help you understand all of your legal options while guiding you through the criminal justice system. It's my job to ensure that my clients are treated fairly — and that their rights under the Charter are respected. In many cases, for example, when police or crown prosecutors have acted improperly, it's possible to have the charges stayed or withdrawn before the matter goes to trial.
